Which Bible Character Do You Relate To The Most?
I have always related to King David the most. He was a man after God's own heart. He had a heart of worship which is something I am passionate about. God chose David to do great and mighty things because of his love for the Lord. God saw his passionate heart. What is interesting to me and what I can relate to is the fact that David committed some grievous sins against the LORD. Yet God still used him mightily. David's life reflects how a man after God's own heart can stumble; much like we all do. David's heart was shown toward God in a profound way because he recognized his sins against God. He displayed true repentance and was a true example of that. God never labeled David as hopeless. It gives me courage to see myself as God sees me. Even when I sin God doesn't see me as hopeless nor does He give up on me. Just like David, God forgives me as I repent. Just like David one can have the greatest heart toward God and still fall. Just like David God can use the vilest of sinners and bring restoration after true repentance. David taught me a true example of repentance. David cried out to God because of his passionate love for God and his heart of worship. This man who committed adultery and murder was chosen by God to fulfill a covenant and would have a lineage from which Jesus was born. David's main strength was his reliance on God. I find myself relying on God more and more in my life because it is God's strength that keeps me going and keeps me relying on Him for every aspect of my life. David's example gives me hope and I am encouraged by such a godly man.
I have a list but short answer, Jacob and David.
ReplyDeleteWould love to know why these choices Kim! Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteHi Yvette. Well lets see, Jacob started out as a deceiver, and during his life transformed into a godly man of character. I started out as more than a deceiver but that also , and came to Jesus 31 years ago and little by little He has changed me . I know that the only thing "godly" about me is the Holy Spirit inside me.
ReplyDeleteI relate to David because of the many troubles he had in life but always was thankful to God . And of course he was a musician and writer. So I relate to those things that I admire and relate to about David. I also agree with all you said in your narrative about David, true for me as well.
By the way, speaking of the Holy Spirit that reminds me that I have changed my belief about how we receive the Holy Spirit. You and I , by email, discussed it awhile back . I no longer adhere to the Pentecostal view I had for so many years. Thank God He has helped me to remove false beliefs from my life with His truth. Since 4 years ago after reading Jeremiah 33:3 the Lord has done some wonderful things inside me, concerning the salvation doctrine which became a great interest in for me. God bless you Yvette.
